About This Book

Barry the Bear is going on a fishing trip with his Papa. He's confident that this trip will be the best day he's ever lived.Barry thinks fishing will be easy after watching how effortless his father is with a fishing pole. However, Barry doesn't get his line in the water on the first try. Barry is distraught that he just can't get it. His Papa Bear encourages him not to give up and to try again. Barry learns after a couple of attempts that you have to practice and sometimes humble yourself and practice until you get it.Once Barry catches his big fish, he doesn't quite feel right. He doesn't understand why he isn't happy to have caught his fish. Catching fish was the whole purpose of the trip and he now doesn't feel good about it. After looking at the fish, he ponders if the fish has a family. He sees the fish's family in the brook. Barry selflessly has Papa take out the hook and give the fish back to its family because even though he caught the fish, it doesn't mean it's his to keep. The pair decided to relax by a campfire and enjoy some s'mores instead. This book is ideal for parents wanting to teach their children about humility, selflessness, and compassion for others. Hopefully, Barry's adventures will teach them important life lessons while encouraging children that every day is a great day for adventure and fun!
