A Week Away

Simon and Joan had spent their life together working hard at school and then at university establishing their careers. Even after their marriage they didn't take a holiday. Had they realised that they would end up being chased by men with shotguns and that Joan would be kidnapped and taken for the man's wife, they would have stayed at home. But they needed a break so they decided to have a hiking holiday in the Scottish Highlands. They had both been members of the Boy Scouts ad Girl Guides and the thought of camping out was a big draw. Simon planned everything out from the moment they left home, where they would park their car, the route they would take across the mountains and the camping sites they would use. Right from the start, before they had driven out of their driveway things were going wrong and that continued for the rest of the holiday. Although Joan was a brilliant scientist the complexities of the Sat-Nav system was beyond her and she proved this when, while Simon was changing a punctured tyre, she decided to play with it. What she had done she had no idea and it wasn't until they were stuck up a mountain track, miles from nowhere and not at the car park Simon had set it to take them too that he realised something else had gone wrong. It was late so they slept the night in the car and Simon said he would backtrack in the morning and find their way but that was not to be, the car wouldn't start. They would make the best of a bad job and start their trek from here, the only trouble was that Simon had no idea where, 'here' was. Over the next 6 days they came across a man with a shotgun who tried to shoot Simon, were chased across the mountains and up glens until they took refuge in a cave but this was not safe. They went deeper into the cave but still they were being chased. Eventually they found their way out but they were not safe here either. It appeared that they had gone back in time. Joan was captured by a group of Scotsmen dressed in old fashioned Scottish highland dress, was this the end for them both? What will become of Simon and Joan? It isn't over yet.
