      Musical Mystery has both human and animal characters who introduce musical terms and concepts in an amusing manner. The story centers around 12-year-old Alto Octave, who is leaving his home and moving hundreds of miles away. It is difficult leaving his friends and most of all his piano, which is too fragile to move. Mrs. Cadence is retiring after 35 years of teaching. She is sad to leave but happy that her life-long dream of moving to Paris is coming true. There are funny little field mice and a piano, just needing some tender loving care, waiting for Alto when he arrives at his new home. The piano and Alto form a bond and the mystery is what is discovered in the closet of the home on 88 Ivory Keys Lane.
