Catherine's story gives a personal view of family and community life in the rural west of Ireland during the late 1800s and early 1900s, as seen by Catherine's daughter, Delia.Catherine grew up on a farm, and spent nearly half her life there. Her father was often traveling, buying and selling cattle, while her mother with help kept the farm going and cared for their children.
