2040 American Exodus

The Thirties are turning into the Forties—in this century, not the last—and America is in shambles. A few decades of socialism and ever-expanding entitlements have left the nation's economy in ruins, its society in disarray, and its standing in the world reduced to vulnerable prey in the eyes of competing predators, Russia and China. The best and the brightest are fleeing to—of all places—Cuba. But a band of diehard citizens called The Patriots, led by the unlikely duo of a minister and the adopted son he rescued from an abuse-filled home, refuse to accept the once-great, one-time world leader's seemingly inevitable decline into oblivion. That son finds himself the challenger of a college friend who has become the architect of the failing political order. And in the middle is the beautiful young woman both men desire.
