On September 11, 2011, the tenth anniversary of the destruction of the World Trade Center and the attack on the Pentagon, a devastating disease of unknown origin strikes the world. The instantaneous spread of this disease, coupled with the tenth anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks, defies belief in a natural origin, but there would be no investigation and no retaliation. In a very short space of time the world's population is reduced to a few survivors, organized government has ceased to exist at all levels. Kobie Winters and his grandfather find themselves alone on a farm in Missouri. The houses in West Falls and in the rural area surrounding it are rapidly becoming mausoleums for the dead. Life for this young man and his grandfather is instantly on a survival level. This is the story of Kobie's search for a mother that he hopes has survived that plague.
