Description
Colinas Verdes. Modern-day California gold mine. Destined to be one of the greatest little towns ever to hit the state. Once the boys at the Verdes Land Company finished selling off parcels of land in the hills surrounding Verdes Dam for a beautiful new subdivision. There was a slight hitch, however. One of the developers had disappered with $100,000 in his pocket. And his body had been found six miles outside of town in an overturned Cadillac- without the cash. The word was out to get something - anything on a new boy in town. Sandford Anders. There wasn't really much to connect him with it. Except the fact that everybody Anders had met since his arrival there seemed to be turning up dead. Arriving in the town of Colinas Verdes, California, to collect his two children left orphaned by the death of his ex-wife, Sandford Anders knew he had his work cut out. It wasn't going to be easy prying them loose from two doting grandparents already sick with grief over the loss of their daughter. But Anders soon finds that regaining the custody of his children is the least of his worries. For the disappearance of a local developer (who happens to have been a they mayor's brother ) and the grisly deaths of two locals leave Anders the convenient scapegoat for a double murder rap. And the town fathers seem determined to make it stick. A chilling tale of murder and business chicanery in a not so old West. Full Synopsis
