Blood flowed through the swamps, and down the rivers when the Yankee Rebellion swept over the eastern peninsula.

Young David Strang, a hefty, handsome, fisher's son, was one of the leaders. Like the other idealists, who led the Great Cause, he had not counted on the lust and brutality of the raggle-taggle band who called themselves soldiers. Untamed, they looted, raped and burned the villages in their paths.

David saw his only love married to a rascal in the English Army, and witnessed his infidelity. He didn't expect to see Fear again, but destiny played it otherwise. He was forced to protect her through the rebel lines in the thick of the revolt, and in the end she suffered degradation and scandal to save David's life.
