The Doctor Next Door
Polly Davis wasn't at all looking forward to working as a temporary secretary to Doctor Geoffrey Mortimer, who was rumoured to be so difficult. And as soon as she set foot in his office the first day she found that rumour had not lied: he was every bit as difficult and hard to please as he was reputed to be! And Polly in particular seemed to bring out the worse in him: in no time she had managed to convince him that she was careless, lazy, and didn't have her mind on her work. So that things were quite strained enough between the two of them before Doctor Mortimer came to live in the house next door!
