In the early 1900s, several colonies of Americans living in Mexico were forced to leave the country and everything they owned behind as the soldiers of Pancho Villa swept through the area. They were simple, hardworking people, many of them farmers. They lived peacefully with their Mexican neighbors.     Eight year-old Anna is the middle child in one of these American families. Although she has to work hard to help her family, she loves having fun and has many adventures just being a kid. But her ordered, peaceful life becomes full of fear and uncertainity as the Mexican Revolution brings some of Pancho Villa's army to her hometown of Juarez. Strange and scary things start to happen. People are threatened, some of them hurt--a few of them murdered! Some soldiers even point a cannon at their school while all the kids are in class!     This story is based on the real life experiences of the author's grandmother and on events that really happened. It is a story readers of all ages will enjoy over and over again.
