Mike Chambers is an unemployed pilot who reluctantly accepts a contract flying in North Africa. Eight months into his contract he experiences a series of odd events which start when a tall, black clad, Touareg on a camel addresses him in broad Manchester English. Intrigued, they talk and Mike is progressively more surprised when the Touareg reveals a thorough knowledge of him, his likes and hobbies. Shortly after this he returns to Gatwick for time off in the UK, where he is recruited by some form of Government agency. On his return to Algiers he is rostered to train a new Dutch co-pilot, Sue Smit. She is a deep, complex, and beautiful woman. They begin to fall in love, and her difficult past is revealed slowly and painfully. At the end of their few weeks flying they go on leave to Mike?s boat in Mallorca. What starts as an idyll becomes violent as Sue?s true mission is revealed, leading them increasingly into danger. After which they return to Algeria and their routine flying gets interrupted by global events. This culminates in action in the caves at Djanet in Southern Algeria.The book is a romance and a thriller, set in the cold war era, in west London, the Balearics and North Africa.This novel is based upon some rumours heard by the author in Algeria and Libya whilst working on oil support operations, some actual incidents, and on authentic flying, and sailing experiences.The Author.This is a first novel. An airline pilot by profession, sailor and jazz aficionado by inclination the author has also published a second novel ?Solo?.
