When Sister Bridie Stewart leaves her Aberdeen home to join the London Head Office of Pan-European Oil as a company nurse her career enters a challenging new phase - much to her boyfriend Neil's disapproval. His fears seemed justified when Bridie is invited to go to Norway by her new boss, Dr Gregory Brandon, to help on a project and she herself begins to suspect his motives for asking her.
