The Last Way Station — Kent Conwell

As soon as Jack Slade and his partner, Three Fingers Bent, arrive in the small Texas town of New Gideon, they know no one wants them there. There's been some rustling in the area, and folks aren't taking too kindly to strangers. But things don't get any better when Slade and Bent move on. The two don't get far before a posse from New Gideon rides up, accuses Bent of murder, and takes him back to face a judge. Slade knows he won't have much time before his partner hangs on a trumped-up charge, and there's only one way he can save his friend--he'll have to find the real killer himself!
