Up until the arrival of researcher Geoff McLeod, Doctor Helen French had been the only European on the beautiful Fan-Cho islands in the Indian Ocean. But any thoughts that she might have had about striking up a friendship with her fellow-countryman were quickly dispelled at their first abrasive meeting, when Helen was made to realise that although experienced in her work, she was quite out of her depth when faced with an emotional situation.
