About the Author

John Flanagan's induction into writing was unusual. While working at an agency, he wrote a scathing poem about a top-level executive. Luckily for him, one of the other executives agreed with his thoughts, thought he had talent and trained him in copywriting. After working in advertising for years, he teamed up with a friend and they created Hey Dad!, a television show that aired for eight years.

Flanagan's popular Ranger's Apprentice series was originally twenty short stories that he had written for his son to enjoy reading. Now it has been sold in eighteen countries and has been shortlisted for children's book awards in Australia and other countries. The series also is regularly on the New York Times Best Sellers list. He has also written the popular Brotherband Chronicles. The Hunters, the third book in the series, will be released in October 2012. He lives in Sydney, Australia with his wife and their family.
