Penny Farnsworth inherits money from an aunt and decides to seek out the boy who constantly defended her when she lived in an orphanage in San Francisco. Over the years she has wondered what happened to Matt Devlin and especially wants to share her good fortune with him. Penny has always felt a bit guilty that she was adopted instead of him. After much searching, she locates Matt, but the trouble is, he still sees her as a little, freckle-faced kid. Penny, though, starts to have more than friendly feelings for Matt. In addition, Matt believes someone is sneaking inside his warehouse when he's not there, but he can't figure out why. Although this alludes to the title, most of Edwards' romance involves Penny's attempts to get Matt to see her as not only a woman but his woman. It's a sweet tale, but it's difficult at times to get past these twenty-year-olds speaking the vernacular of sixty-year-olds.
