The Silver Jackass — Frank Gruber

In their search for a five-ton cache of silver bullion, the two highly unorthodox snoopers, Beagle and Peel, follow a trail from Hollywood to a Nevada desert, and to a ghost mine called the Silver Jackass. The two slippery private eyes show their inevitable gambling cunning and, as usual, find a load of trouble before they find the bullion.
