A Spell Is Cast — Eleanor Cameron

A Spell Is Cast is the story of Cory Winterslow's stay with her grandmother and Uncle Dirk in California. Her adoptive mother, Stephanie Van Heusen, an actress, tours constantly and has left Cory with a series of hired help. But during this tour, she has sent Cory to California, and Cory has looked forward eagerly to being part of a family. In California, with Uncle Dirk and his mother, Cory Winterslow hopes to find a home. What she finds is a lot of mystery surrounding her Uncle Dirk. There is strange music in the night, the whispers of the people in town, and even rumors about the unicorn necklace she wears. Superstition and magic play a part in this story of a young girl searching for her place in the world.
