In Sleepy Hollow, Nick investigates the death of a woman attacked by a werewolf. There is no such creature, is there?

Last summer, Nick Caden became an Internet celebrity for almost a whole day when he discovered Billy the Kid's killer in the "living" ghost town of Deadwood. (Not the real Billy the Kid -- he's been dead for years.) When the owner of the Cool Ghoul Gazette learned of Nick's super sleuthing skills, he hired Nick to investigate the death of a vampire in Transylvania, North Carolina. (Not a real vampire -- there are no such things, right?) Then on Halloween night, a zombie snatched Nick's sister. (Not a real zombie - there are no such things, right?) Once more Nick solved the case, only this time he died doing it -- or so the zombie killer believes.

Now Nick is no longer a super sleuth hero. He's just another undersized fifteen year old, hoping to remain off the grid until the person who tried to drown him is captured. When his parents and sister decide to drive back to Kansas to pack a rental truck and permanently move to Savannah, Nick's dad decides to ship Nick by train to Sleepy Hollow. There he can stay with Mrs. Caden's childhood friend, Isabel Canon. Mrs. Canon is rich, lives in a castle, and has a daughter Nick's age. Oh, and there is a werewolf running loose in Sleepy Hollow. At least that's the rumor.

Things start to go wrong as soon as Nick arrives. A group of amateur detectives dressed as famous sleuths - Maxwell Smart, Frank Cannon, Kojak, Sherlock Holmes, Jessica Fletcher, Cagney and Lacey, Charlie's Angels, Columbo, Sam McCloud - accuse Nick of secretly carrying a bomb in his duffle bag. Through an unfortunate series of events, Nick ends up meeting "Izzy's" daughter. Millie insists Nick allow her to help solve the werewolf murders. Nick, Millie, and her uncle, Bagger Joe, (who lives in an Amish buggy) concoct a plan to stake out Raven Rock and capture the werewolf. But as the last full moon of the month rises over Sleepy Hollow, Nick learns that some monsters are real -- and the worst kind of monster is the one you never see coming.
