SHE NEVER EXPECTED TO WIN A LORD
The daughter of an impoverished gentlewoman, Dia Carlisle had no great expectations of the marriage mart, for all her beauty and charm. To make a good match, a young lady needed well-born beaux, and the men at the lodgings where she and her mother lived, while respectable, were hardly high flyers of the ton. Despite her disadvantages, however, she caught the eye of Francis Milne, Viscount Knollton, one of London's most eligible bachelors. Dia was flattered by the gentleman's attentions, but she was determined to shield her heart, for a nobleman such as Lord Knollton would never consider marriage to a penniless nobody.

HE NEVER THOUGHT TO LOSE HIS HEART
From the moment Francis Milne saw Dia, he was smitten by her lovely face and gentle manner. Unable to imagine life without her, he quickly removed to her lodging house to press his suit. Once there, however, the object of his affections turned shy. Couldn't she tell he had only the most honorable of intentions? Before long, his lordship had other troubles as well, for his life was turned topsy-turvy as Dia's fellow lodgers and his own loyal retainers sought to help, or hinder, what could be the love match of the Season.
