Luke Dawson winds his way through Dakota Territory, making the stagecoach routes safe. After the murder of his mentor, Wild Bill Hickok, and a confrontation with the murderer John Varnes, there is a bushwhacking against Luke. Discouraged yet determined, he moves on. Three years later, after a long journey, Luke goes undercover as a Wells Fargo agent into Durango, Colorado. A series of stagecoach robberies and the disappearance of a local miner have Luke on high alert. The miner's beautiful daughter Laura has captured Luke's interest, spurring him forward with more determination. While looking for a band of stage robbers and Laura's father, Luke runs into his nemesis, John Varnes. Through his search for the band of thieves, Luke discovers that something suspicious is happening in the local Wells Fargo operation that can tie together the thieves, the disappearance of the lost miner, and Varnes. When the truth is revealed along with Luke's true identity, the real action begins.
