When Charlotte went to Cornwall to stay with her cousins, she hoped that at last she would achieve her ambition - to have an adventure. To her disappointment, she found that life there was just as dull as it was at home. But when she persuaded her cousin to dress in men's clothes in order to escape from the house and go to the fair, Charlotte was soon embarked on a far greater and more dangerous adventure than she had ever dreamed of.
