Fergus — Brian Moore

Fergus is 39, a moderately successful novelist, just over a bad marriage, living now in a Southern California's oceanside house with 22-year-old Dani Sinclair. Beset by the movie producer he's writing for, by fear of losing his beautiful young mistress, by intimations of age and mortality, he wakes one morning to the presence of his long-dead parents. During the ensuing day and night -- in counterpoint with his current life -- the family, friends, teachers and lovers of his childhood and adolescence in Belfast face him with the sources and meaning of his character.
