Corey is very upset. Her divorced mother, Doc Tock, has started dating a man who lives in the neighborhood. He has a daughter Corey's age, but that's all the girls have in common. Alice doesn't like animals, and she'd rather read a book than try to make friends. Fortunately, one good thing is happening--someone is secretly helping Corey.
