The Mourning Dove — B.G. Swan

The second book in the story of Sadie, a rural Oklahoma girls who grows up to become a teacher in a one room schoolhouse in Maud, Oklahoma. This part of the story begins in 1918 and takes the family through the Spanish Influenza epidemic and World War 1. Sadie knows that if her children are to succeed, she must allow them to grow beyond Maud, Oklahoma. This story shows that the more people you love, the more you risk losing.
