What's New at FictionDB

Cover variations have finally arrived. Now you can see several different covers for the same book. Make sure you haven't already read that book by taking a peek at all the cover art variations.

The book detail page and the buy the book page have been combined. You will now find information on purchasing a book at the bottom of every detail page.

 

Use the Google search on the Advanced Search page to search the site. The Google search will never be as accurate as our own premium search, but it is a close approximation.

You can now see whether a book is part of a series from the author page and the new releases pages. Just hover your mouse over the title of the book. If the book is part of a series, text will appear giving you that information.

 

You can now go directly from an author's book list to that author on your bookshelf with the new buttons at the top of the author page. You can jump to your bookshelf, your wishlist and your archive.

 

We've also added links from the author page to the complete publishers series lists and the anthologies. Hover your mouse over these and you will the series name or the anthology name.

We've opened the basic site data to all visitors. The basic site includes authors, new releases, pseudonyms, series, reviews and book detail. Members who are logged in will still enjoy an advertising-free site, their bookshelves, the advanced search and many other features. Compare the features.

You can now add data to the site yourself. From the book detail page, click on Add missing details to this book. You can add or correct information on almost every piece of information in the database.

You can now click on this icon On My Bookshelf and be taken directly to the book on your Bookshelf. This should make keeping track of your inventory much easier. Now you'll know with one click whether you've read the book, have it on your Wishlist or are waiting to read it.

We've now added direct links to WorldCat.org. What is it? It's a library catalog site -- lots of catalogs in one place. They've taken all the libraries in the country and put their catalogs in one place. Just click on the to be taken to the Buy page where you can then click to WorldCat for that specific book.

Can you remember something about the book, but you'd know for sure if you saw the cover? Well, you can now look at the covers of the books returned in the Advanced Search. Just click on View Covers from your results page and find that book!

Ever wonder if you've read a book already when you see it new at the bookstore? Or has a book you want been issued in an anthology? FictionDB now keeps track of reissues. You can find the recent publishing history (post-ISBN) for many books in our database on the detail page right under the reviews.

Value My Books is the latest premium feature to be added for our subscribers. Search your bookshelf using a wide variety of criteria and see how many treasures you own! Click on the link provided above or go to My Account and click on Value My Books.

Do you sell books on the internet? Do you want to know how much your books are worth? FictionDB now has Bookseller Pricing Tools. By typing in the ISBN or using a barcode scanner, you can quickly see the value of any book. We have added this new feature to our Mobile site since most booksellers check prices on the go. Click on Sell on the Mobile home page to get started. You will need and Amazon.com ID, but directions for obtaining one are given.

Cover Galleries for the New Releases pages are ready for your viewing pleasure. See covers for all the new titles.

 

We've added On My Bookshelf to indicate that a book is on My Bookshelf, in My Archive, or on My Wishlist. You'll see this icon throughout the site if you are logged in to your account.

You can now see all the reviews associated with a particular title by visiting the book detail page. We have added several new review sites including ARomanceReview.com and ChickLitBooks.com.

We have added direct page number links to the bottom of many of our data pages. In the old design, you had to page through every single page to get to page 7. With the new design, you can either page using an arrow or jump right to page 7.

We have added the ability for visitors to choose the font size that works best for them. Look for the Large Text links at the bottom of each page.

We have completely redesigned the site! We've moved all of the navigation to the top of the screen to allow for more book information on the page.

 

Along with a whole new look, you'll find many improvements. Look for sorting keys on many of the pages.  We've also added several new search options to our Advanced Search page.
