She was pursued by ghostly evil in the old Maryland mansion!

On her first night in Waterview Manor, lovely Jannine Austin glimpsed the phantasmal figure of a cowled monk prowling about the first floor. Then, strange and unnerving things began to happen: a window was eerily shattered by some mysterious force; a grandfather's clock, long broken, began inexplicably to run again; and, late one night, ghostly fingers began to play upon the dust-covered keys of the organ in the attic. When the body of one of the house's occupants was discovered in the lake, Jannine could no longer explain away her fears.

The Black Monk intended death for the new owners of Waterview Manor!

Jannine huddled on the woodpile and smoothed her wet hair. The rain showed no sign of letting up, and the distance from the barn to the house was too far for her to make a dash.

Suddenly, she heard what sounded like the plaintive, otherworldly notes of a flute coming from the far end of the hayloft. She got up and began to follow the eerie music across the broad barn. Then, with shaking legs, Jannine climbed the ladder that led to the loft and peeked over the edge of the flooring.

She stifled a scream. What was that shadow-like figure in one corner, squatting on a pile of leftover hay? The daylight was too dim for her to make out the form clearly, but the thought could not be repressed -- was it the black-robed monk?
