The large estate in Florida's lush and forbidding swamplands had a strange history of tragedy and discord. Lark Fannon could not understand why Ezekiel King had chosen to leave Kingsroads to her rather than to his nephew, but she felt compelled -- against her mother's wishes -- to visit the house she hadn't seen since her childhood.
