The Church People is a collection of intertwining stories involving the small town members and attendees of the Mountain View Baptist Church, nestled in the southern foothills of the Appalachian Mountain Chain where the author was born and raised, as were multiple generations of her ancestors. It wasn't until she moved 2,000 miles from the Bible Belt culture of this region that she became acutely aware of its unique peculiarities and customs. This novel describes how the church, as the crucial institution for social acceptance and economic stability, is ever ready to snatch unbelievers and church back-sliders from the grips of evil, with no one in this region immune to its influence. The characters lead poignant lives, innocently striving for acceptance and happiness with hilarious trials and tribulations, always culminating with resolution coming from the church body.
