Campaign fever is in the air ... and Robert Hawkins Grant is a shoe-in for reelection to the Senate. Grant, a conservative from Georgia, is a strong favorite in the next presidential race, on track to being the first black president of the United States. But nine days before the senatorial election, a reporter who had been publicly dogging him is murdered. Evidence points to Grant, and too many people are quick to believe the worst. The ensuing investigation sets in motion a chain of events that threaten his personal and professional future. New accusations surface, each more damaging than the last.
