What happened to all the mixed-race children produced by the; soldiers, sailors and Marines during the Vietnam War? What happened to all the American Prisoners-of-War who refused to compromise with the enemy and were held back from the 1973 POW exchange? What happened to all the American black marketers, drug dealers and pimps who took discharges from the military and remained in Vietnam as civilians? We know all three categories of Americans were in Vietnam at the end of the war. We know Vietnamese mothers were abandoning their mixed-race children when the Communists took over South Vietnam. We know there were hundreds of Americans trapped in the large cities with the communist takeover. We know from comments made by American POWs who had compromised with the enemy that American soldiers who had refused to cooperate with them were being held back as a bargaining chip and insurance that President Nixon would pay reparations. THE AMERASIANS, is a fictional answer to the above questions based on the author's experience, many conversations and research mixed with knowledge of the enemy. The author believes that when President Clinton and Senator McCain negotiated a trade agreement with the communist government of Vietnam, one of the terms was that there were no Americans being held by the Vietnamese government. The author believes, to ensure no American ever left Vietnam as a result of the Vietnam War-the communists executed all of them-even the traitors who choose to remain in Vietnam after the war.
