For as long as there has been civilization, the horse has been by man's side. Some horses are lucky enough to have caring owners that give them a nice peaceful retirement when they become old or lame, but for many others, fate is not so kind. These horses suffer abuse, torment, starvation, cruelty and eventually death at the hands of their owners or are sold to "meat men," for a small profit.
