Rebecca's Lady
Sparked off by poverty and famine in West Wales in the early 1840s, the Rebecca Riots were a popular protest against the injustice of the tolls. Dressed as women, large bands of men scoured the country by night, spurred on by their leader; known as 'Mother Rebecca'.
Intrigued by tales of this mysterious man and stirred by the plight of the people, Stella Vaughan resolves to help the outlaws. But as the daughter of a magistrate, how can she join in the rebel cause? And when 'Mother Rebecca' abducts her, how is it that she responds so shamelessly to his arrogant caresses?
