Ask any teacher above the 4th grade what the one thing is students must know to be successful in math and the answer will be most likely be the same: math fact fluency. By the fourth and fifth grades students are generally proficient in addition and subtraction. If there is a hang-up, it is with multiplication facts…and with some students…it stops there.
