Wife versus Nurse.

The story of Doctor Philip Conway and his romance with his dispenser, their marriage and the trouble beautiful Lavinia Ames causes when she enters their lives!

Left alone by the death of her adored father, Jane was persuaded by her father's old friend, Professor Bohun, to take a university course. Jane elected to take a course in dispensing, because of her deep interest in medical science. And, upon the completion of her course, she obtained a position as dispenser to brilliant young Dr. Phillip Conway.

At first, Dr. Conway was conscious of Jane only as a very able assistant-but he soon came to realize that he loved her. . . and Jane, who had loved Phillip from their first meeting, and who knew that he was unhappy in his fashionable practice, suggested that they do research together at her lovely old home, Tangletrees, on the Sussex Downs.

For four happy, contented years, Jane and Phillip worked in perfect unity. But the advent of the twins brought complications. Unable to obtain help with the care of her babies, Jane was forced to abandon her laboratory work. And rather than interfere with the important research work, she suggested that Phillip get another assistant. . . .

And so beautiful Lavinia Ames came into their lives, to change and disrupt the peace at Tangletrees. . . .

How the old professor again came to Jane's aid, and how Jane restored her husband's faith in his work and in himself, is told with deep understanding.
