Ada Trask, a brilliant violinist, is thrilled when she gets a chance to play with the a Manhattan Symphony. Not only will she become a member of one of the world's greatest ensembles, she hopes to unveil the ugly mystery surrounding the long-ago death of her parents, once members of the same orchestra. Yet Ada unveils nothing but trouble in New York. First, her fiancé threatens to break their engagement. Then she learns the concert hall shadows are haunted by evil in the form of a phantom conductor who once admired her mother greatly. Soon the phantom strikes out lethally at various people connected with the orchestra. Because of her resemblance to her late mother, Ada senses she will be his next victim unless someone - or something - intervenes!
