Bette Graham innocently attends an interview with a representative of the Hardwick family of Portland, Maine. Her ability in working with the deaf and dumb garners her the position -- caring for Mrs. Hardwick's beautiful, black-eyed daughter who became mute after her mother's sudden and tragic death.

What appeared to be a promising position for the talented young woman, becomes a terrifying trial between supernatural forces and a very real danger at the eerie estate known as Goblin's Acres.
