In order to forget an unhappy romance, Nina MacBain leaves her Virginia home to take a job at a Wyoming inn owned by her uncle and aunt. On the way, her little Volkswagen is trapped in a furious snowstorm, and Nina is rescued by Rick Hallister, a white-water river guide.
