Punisher: Circle of Blood — Steven Grant

Frank Castle watched his wife and children die in a hail of gunfire between rival criminal gangs. A large part of him died that day, but the Punisher was born. This book explores Frank's method of dealing with the criminal underworld, avoiding costumed heroes and uniformed officers of the law.

It is a violent tale, looking at the seediest parts of Manhattan, and Castle thinks he's doing a job no one else has the guts to do: wipe out the criminals before other innocents die. The criminal lords have other ideas and it's all-out war.
