Earth had just emerged from a costly inter-stellar war, so it was unwilling to risk another just to annex a tunnel to the stars controlled by primitive humanoids whose homeworld lay between two enemy empires.

Instead, Earth sent the sensory-enhanced Spymaster Remy Santoul to find the weak point on Q'aantre that could be exploited to Earth's benefit.
