Sharon Crosby's vacation cruise was turning sour under the shadow of a tourist attraction known as The Devil's Footprints--a gigantic, carved, stone monolith once--and possibly still--the site of gruesome native rites.

First she'd met her former fiance, Miles Driscoll on board--traveling with his newest girlfriend, Odette Quintaine. Then a sinister self-styled medium singled her out for a dire prophecy of doom, warning her to leave the ship.

But it wasn't until another woman died under mysterious and inexplicable circumstances that Sharon realized the satanic stairway was leading her to a rendezvous with hell...

"Are you a medium?" Sharon asked.
"If you mean, do I call people back from the dead by the use of gauze and ventriloquism and a hidden partner--yes, I have done all those things." Reinecke's small eyes gleamed.
Sharon half stood. "You'll pardon me if I don't think you can help me with my problem--"
"No, I will not pardon you!" Reinecke snapped. "I have done fraudulent things, but I am not a fraud! You will listen when I tell you I sense terrible vibrations directed at you!"
Sharon paused, shocked at his outburst.
"You have no choice," Reinecke said dramatically, "but to leave this ship..."
