A Merry Heart
Miriam Stolzfus is a young Amish woman living in the rolling hills of modern day Pennsylvania. She was once filled with wonderful dreams for a future with a man she adored...a man who decided to marry someone else. Now, Miriam is known in her community as the "old maid" schoolteacher with a "heart of stone."

Amos Hilty, an Amish widower with a small child, wants to court her, but she is certain that he does not love her and that he only wants a mother for his daughter, a wife for the sake of convenience.

Meanwhile, Nick McCormick, a local newspaper reporter, takes a special interest in Miriam, and she finds that he is easy to talk to, as well as attractive.

Will Miriam ever let go of her bitterness and surrender her will to God-or will she leave the Amish faith and find what she longs for in the outside world?

"A merry heart doeth, good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones"Proverbs 17:22.
