A Summer to Remember by Mary Balogh

A Summer to Remember by Mary Balogh

Kit Butler is cool, dangerous, one of London's most infamous bachelors--marriage is the last thing on his mind. But Kit's family has other plans. Desperate to thwart his father's matchmaking, Kit needs a bride ... fast. Enter Miss Lauren Edgeworth...

A year after being abandoned at the altar, Lauren has determined that marriage is not for her. When these two fiercely independent souls meet, sparks fly--and a deal is hatched. Lauren will masquerade as Kit's intended if he agrees to provide a passionate, adventurous, unforgettable summer. When summer ends, she will break off the engagement, rendering herself unmarriageable and leaving them both free. Everything is going perfectly--until Kit does the unthinkable: He begins to fall in love. A summer to remember is not enough for him. But how can he convince Lauren to be his ... for better, for worse, for the rest of their lives?

Bianca:
In the beginning it started out kinda slow and I was tempted to shut it, but after awhile I couldn't wait to see what would happen between the two characters. I was rooting for the girl, because so far she did NOT fall under the rakes spell, she held her ground and her cool and kept him in check! I loved the fact that she did not break her poker-face for one moment around him (because usually the girl always brakes first). I was totally surprised at the turn of the book so early on, but I realized that that change had to happen for the girl to move on, and it just made me like the guy so much more for relinquishing his information to her about his bet. It made me happy to watch the girls transformation from prim and prudent to happy and carefree, the guy deserves some credit because she was tough. And the storyline was interesting and made for a great plot. The character build-up is just amazing in the girl, I loved the girl's character completely. The lovemaking for the first two times was horrible, but maybe thats because their was an emotional struggle at those time, their last time was better but not the best I have seen written--just simple and perfect for them, not too gorey which was good in itself. :]
