Michelle:
I'm sorry to mess with all the perfect ratings, but I really must...
Meet Luke Hunter. He has no family and was mentored by a preacher from a homeless shelter where he found God, but somewhere along the way the connection became a bit staticy...
Meet Chloe Caldwell and her clan. Gran, Chloe's grandmother, had two sons. The sons haven't spoken to each other since an incident during their youth. Jefferson was the rich brother who managed to do nicely for himself, owning a yaucht club. He had two children (I think) named Phoebe and Matt. Or maybe he had three...there's somene named Adamm as well...
Gan's other son, Chloe's father, was named Clayton. He and his wife had five children: The twins (Daniel and David), Chloe, Miranda (married briefly at 18 resulting in a son, Sammy), and teenager Theo.
Okay, the reason why I gave this book a three: Though I didn't find this book one of those I couldn't stop reading, I was still willing to get if a 4 rating until Luke did what he did near the end of the book. He had promised Chloe to wait, then turned and did just the opposite. I think that the deal he made was over the top and was forgiven way too fast! He made me sick the way he treated all those family members. The way the family forgave him was a little too perfect for me...The reason Clayton hasn't forgiven his brother is NOTHING compared to what Luke did to Chloe, and I think that should have taken a lot longer to forgive. I'm not saying that he didn't deserve forgiveness - he did. And I'm not saying that he and Chloe shouldn't have gotten married - they should have. I'm just saying that they shouldn't have taken him back so quickly. And I was shocked that even teenager Theo forgave him so quickly...
But the book was good. I enjoyed reading it for the most part. I'm not sure I buy Luke's new occupation either...
