Michelle:
The last book in The Ladies of Sweetwater Lake series was WONDERFUL! I loved these five friends and the lives they have formed. I loved hearing about "what happened after" in each story. But what happened after this story will forever remain in our imaginations.
WARNING: If you haven't read the previous books, don't read my review below!!!
This book, I'm sure, was a rough one to write. We met Tanya in the first book after her husband was arrested for a crime he committed (sorry if I spoiled the first book for anyone). In the book before this, Tanya gets word that her husband was killed in a fight. In this book, Tanya is a young widow (or divorced widow) with a handicapped teenager.
Enter Chance Taylor who is homeless and broken from the unfairness of life. He's turned his back on God who took his family and allowed him to be punished for two years until the truth was discovered. He felt guilt over Tom's death, and was in Sweetwater to make sure Tanya and her daughter are well taken care of!
The subplot in this story is about Crystal, Tanya's daughter, who's being bullied at school. Chance becomes involved and soon he and Tanya are more like a couple raising a daughter then separate people just together for a short time.
And get your kleenex ready, because you will bawl in the last chapter! What Tanya and her friends did for Chance was totally precious! What Chance did for Crystal at Christmas was totally precious. This one's a keeper!!!
