Loretta Chase has done it again! She gives us a tale of three sisters, proprietors of Maison Noirot, ladies dressmakers. Each sister has her own ability, Marcelline design, Sophia writing and Leonie organization. There shop is successful but not “de rigueur” for Ton. They want to be the best. They read in the scandal sheets the Duke of Clevedon will be returning to town expecting to marry the girl he grew up with, Lady Clara Fairfax. Clara has little fashion since and the sisters call her the Dowdy Duchess. They know if they could dress her, there shop would be much in demand.
The duke Clevedon has been on the continent for three years. He has a somewhat commitment with Clara since childhood. Gervaise Angier, the Seventh Duke of Clevedon became the ward of the Marquess of Warford. His mother and little sister killed in a carriage crash leaving his father, who was driving, to throw his life away.
The sisters know they get the order for her wedding dress, all London would follow. So off to Paris Marcelline goes to catch the Dukes eye and convince him his intended needs there help. A great plan except the sisters hadn’t counted on the Duke.
