Few tourists ever stopped at the small, isolated town of Hargreaves, which was as the townsfolk wanted it. Therefore, when a wealthy widow passed through by accident with her ward, fell in love with the quiet little town and decided to buy a home there and stay on, it caused a major sensation. Then when the local doctor evinced some interest in the ward, although he was convinced that she could never accept his way of life, it led to some heartaches as well.

The small county seat town of Hargreaves was off the main North-South highway, isolated and self-sustaining as a result of several local industries. Few tourists ever stopped there, which was as the town-folk wanted it.

Therefore when a wealthy widow passed through by accident with her ward, suddenly fell in love with the quiet, placid little town and decided on the spur of the moment to buy a home there and stay on, it caused a major sensation. And when the local doctor evinced some interest in the ward, although he was convinced that she could never accept his way of life after being raised in the lap of luxury, it led to some heartaches as well.
