Before starting to write fiction, she worked as an advertising copywriter and also wrote light verse and humor which was published in leading women's magazines.

Twice widowed, Dorothy now lives in Greensboro, North Carolina. When not writing, she enjoys gardening, collecting antiques, and traveling to visit her children and step-children, coast-to-coast.
