Michelle:
Rebecca came from a rich family. Her sister insists she and her family continue to live the way she's accustomed to. She wants the same for Rebecca, who has moved in with her sister to get away from her over-protective parents. Rebecca seems she's being babied ever since the horse fell on her leg, giving her a permanent injury.
Joe is a horse trainer who knows horses in and out, but he has his own problems. His brother, Lane, doesn't have any money sense and has put the family farm in great debt. He cannot even afford to give Joe his half of the estate. Joe has always been poor and wants definitely to get past that.
Rich girl and poor boy meet...Rich girl's parents and sister do NOT approve of poor boy AT ALL. Rebecca's mother declares that poor boy is not "one of us." This is a thorn in Rebecca's side.
This was a GREAT story! I loved how Joe took this Independent girl under his wing. He longed to protect her but hat to do it carefully. Rebecca's family DID get on my nerves. I'm afraid if they had been my family, I would have ordered them out of my life, but Rebecca was calm and patient with them. I loved how Joe handled Rebecca's sister as well...
This author writes of Canada. I'm sure it's more beautiful then she writes...Her books make me long to go there and see what it's really like. She speaks of maternity leave, and when I was reading it I started thinking that Rebecca wouldn't have the job for too long, but then I remembered that in Canada, it's 6 MONTHS...
Oh, and I LOVED the look on the secretary and Receptionist's faces when Joe walked in with a bandana around his head...I couldn't stop laughing over that image! But it didn't matter...it was for a GREAT cause!
