Michelle:
Meet Rachel. She has been running from loving anybody for a long time - ever since her fiance was killed after a motorcycle accident, and she blames herself. Her parents and friends beg her not to turn from God, but she doesn't want to have anything to do with the One who took her love away. She's thrown herself into working for the foundation and never delegates ANYTHING!!! She needs more hours in the day to get everything done.
Meet Eli. He's a pediatrician. Adopted at six after his parents were killed, Eli is still bitter over the life he lost. He's turned from God because of this bitterness. Medicine is his life.
Meet Gracie. She is a sweet little girl who was adopted by Rachel's parents after her mother abandoned her. She has Cerebral palsy and requires a lot of care and special attention.
These three come together after Rachel's mother takes a fall down the stairs. Rachel is forced to put her busy life on hold to care for her sister. During this time, she has to deal with Good-looking, Motor-cycle riding, out-spoken and opinionated Eli. But as time goes by, their feelings for one another change and their heart soften - all because of little Gracie!
The story was a sweet one. Gracie was such a cute little girl, and as we watched her struggle with her health issues, we couldn't help but hurt for her.
The romance in the story was a bit forced. I feel there was some element missing - maybe chemistry?
It was nice watching these two make their way back to God as they struggled to find the truth of their past - and neither was at it seemed before. I especially liked Eli's story and what he discovered.
The continuing sub-plot is still a bit weak and confusing, but I'm sure it will all make since in a future book.
